About

Why AttestEd exists

AttestEd exists to make honesty the rational strategy in college admissions. It is being built deliberately: methodology first, with the people who read the files, before anything scales.

Our Mission

Make honesty the rational strategy

The application file has two halves. Transcripts and test scores arrive certified; the activities and honors that increasingly decide outcomes arrive on trust alone. When an inflated claim is almost never checked, inflation is not a character flaw. It is a best response, and no applicant can return to honesty alone without paying for it.

Field plays honest Field exaggerates
You honest Fair contestMerit decides. Preferred by nearly everyone, but unstable. Honesty punishedInflated claims outrank your true record.
You exaggerate The temptationEmbellishment raises admit odds; detection is near zero. Arms raceEveryone inflates; the signal drowns in noise.THE EQUILIBRIUM

The all-exaggerate outcome is where this game settles, and it is the worst outcome available: nearly everyone, including those who inflate, would prefer the honest contest. Equilibria do not move because people are asked to be better. They move when the payoffs change.

AttestEd changes the payoffs. Students submit each claim with evidence; trained reviewers verify claim by claim against a published methodology and attach an explicit evidence tier to each one. There is no composite score and no judgment of the student, only of the evidence, and the report is released only where the student directs. Once verified claims circulate, unverified ones read differently, and precision becomes the credible strategy. Honesty, made rational.
